This dedication to quality and innovation stems from our founder, Thomas Lawaetz. Thomas established Nordic Health Group in 2016, inspired by his upbringing in a family of doctors, surgeons, and nurses. Having witnessed firsthand how many patients do not receive proper care and patient experience due to increased pressure on healthcare sectors and a non-patient-focused mindset, Thomas was driven to make a difference.
Thomas’ father is a vascular surgeon whose research has played an important role in introducing the minimally invasive treatment methods for varicose veins in Northern Europe. Thomas saw the potential for modern treatment methods and at the same time noted that around one third of the adult population is affected by varicose veins. From there, the vision was clear: make modern treatment methods available to the many people affected by varicose veins and increase their quality of life.
The first clinic opened in Copenhagen in 2016 under the Danish brand name Dansk Venecenter and since then Nordic Health Group has grown to become the largest and leading provider of varicose veins treatment in Northern Europe. Besides Dansk Venecenter in Denmark, Åderbråcksklinikerna has opened in Sweden, Åreknuteklinikkene in Norway, Vaatzorgkliniek in the Netherlands, and UK Vein Care in the United Kingdom.
The journey continues in existing and new markets and the mission remains the same: make modern, minimally invasive treatments available to the many people affected by varicose veins and increase their quality of life.
